Wolverine's Greatest Enemy(hollywood.com)

In anticipation of X-Men Origins: Wolverine coming out this weekend, Hollywood.com asked who was Wolverine’s best villain? According to the 500+ fans who voted, Sabretooth came out on top as the fan favorite of the villains with 42% of the vote. The least favorite enemy was the Blob with only 6% of the vote. Here are the poll results:


Who is Wolverine’s best villain?

Sabretooth - 42%

Magneto - 23%

Mystique - 17%

Deathstrike - 12%

The Blob - 6%

While Romulus is still being set-up as Wolverine's arch-enemy he still has a lot of catching up to do to match Sabretooth. Creed's long history as the "anti-Wolverine" (so alike yet so opposite) still trumps the "behind-the-scenes" villain.

Cyber comes in second for me, not just for his long history but also because Logan was actually scared of him.

Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike make the short list, but they're just semi-obsessive adversaries and late-comers compared to Creed & Burr. Arkady just needs the carbonadium synthesizer and Yuriko seems to be looking for an honourable death.

Magneto only makes the personal enemies list because of "Fatal Attraction" and the fact that Logan's adamantium is a liability against him. Aside from that he's the X-Men's enemy, not Wolverine's in particular.

I still haven't warmed to the idea that there even is a Daken (still hope he doesn't survive Wolverine: Origns) so I'm not even going to consider him.

Mystique is so unpredictable it's hard to tell if she's even an enemy sometimes (Raven and Logan have worked together at several points throughout their long association).

And Blob is only even on this list because they stuck him in the movie in place of Mastadon - other than that he's no more Wolverine's enemy than the Toad! What about Ogun, Deadpool, Professor Thornton, Donald Pierce or Sebastian Shaw, Mister X, Matsuo Tsuroyaba ( the whole Hand for that matter), Bloodscream and Roughhouse, Baron Strucker - hell even Silver Fox has more of a right to be on this list (for her role in Mariko's death) than Fred J. Dukes!

I also wanted to mention Silver Samurai.

Whoops! How'd we leave him out? I'm not even sure how long ago Kenny and Logan first met, or under what circumstances. Silver Samurai is another case (like Mystique, and to a lesser extent Deadpool) of an adversary with whom Logan occasionally finds himself allied. Strangely even after Logan took Silver Samurai's right hand he later was able to persuade him to help with his kendo training.
