December 4, 2007 - David Benioff, the screenwriter of the forthcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, spoke briefly about the Fox-Marvel spin-off film while promoting his new release, The Kite Runner.
Benioff confirmed that Silver Fox will indeed be Wolverine's love interest in the Gavin Hood-directed movie. "Yeah, Silver Fox is one of the big ones; they'll be announcing the casting on that one in the next couple weeks," the scribe told JewReview.net. "And Stryker is in it. But I signed some massive contract at Fox that I'm not allowed to say, so I better shut-up now."
Benioff said the plot will borrow from a specific comic book storyline but wouldn't divulge much more than that. "I think I'm not allowed to say, but it is a prequel and it's an origin, but they don't want me to talk about the specific comic book. The answer is 'yes, there is' but they told me not to say."

Great news! I'm really happy Silver Fox plays a large part in this movie. For decades she was portrayed as Logan's first love, the one that always stood out in his memory connected with his happiest memories of the one time in his life when he found peace.
Since the "specific comic book storyline" the movie is based on is likely to feature Silver Fox, that pretty much narrows things down to Hama's work or Claremont's. And in either case, it practically guarantees that Sabretooth will be a major antagonist.
If David Benioff is any kind of long-time Wolverine fan then he knows that there's a huge mystery surrounding Silver Fox, and he might be tempted to use this movie to provide his own answer (I know I would)!
