Vaughan writing Wolverine! I am there! It's a pity this will reference the entire gaining of memories from Origins, but this should be goooood Wolverine. It looks to me like there is going to be three really good Wolverine books in March '08.

Hah! Good jump-start, CongoJack!
This should be interesting! I'm particularly curious about "Wolverine returns to one of his first battlefields to settle an old score..." Which "battlefield" and which "old score?" He's had so many! And it seems that most of the characters from his past are in Way's hands right now, dating back as far as WWI.
To me that implies a never-before-seen enemy (another Lazaer?), or a verrrrry old one! For the moment I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Vaughn goes all the way back to "Dog" Logan!

The cover for #1 has now been released. From the written solicit, I had thought about the possibility of Dog too. Judging from the cover, the 'battlefield' described is probably a war, and not his encounters with Dog. www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/March08/logan001-.jpg

Interesting. Any projected release date yet?
From the leggings on the soldiers to the left I'd guess WWII Japanese, but I don't remember anything off the top of my head about Logan being in the Pacific theatre after he enlisted (except a vague mention of Australia in Morrisson's X-Men). I wonder what the "old score" is?

Have to wait until March 5 for this one, Megalictis.
I think we're on the similar track - from the footwear on two of the cover's antagonists, I thought it was Hand ninja on the cover but the bayonets seemed to prove me wrong. World War II was a pretty busy time for Logan, I think BKV could be forgiven for adding more to it as long as he tells a good story.

Right. Dog fought Logan at the quarry in BC. Rose got in the way and Logan put his claws into her. She died. He freaked and ran. Dog survived, and hasn't been seen since. Nothing has been revealed about his life after that moment.
March 5 eh? I can live with that. That's still sooner than we're likely to see the end of Whedon's Astonishing arc!

...and sooner than we'll see an end to the Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk mini!!!!!!!!!!
What a failure that is! Marvel should be ashamed that they let this stuff happen!

New solicit is revealed today. I can't wait for this series. The cover is gorgeous too - I'm getting such a Frank Miller vibe from it - reminds me of his art in RONIN. www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/April08/folder2/logan002.jpgI have a feeling this could be regarded as a Wolverine classic in years to come. I hope I'm right.

Issue #1 was released this week and we can add one more historic event to Logan's past.
(There will be spoilers.)
As expected the story takes place in the Pacific theatre in WWII. Logan is a prisoner who escapes the Japanese along with an American Leutenant (who's shaping up to be a jerk in this story).
He meets a Japanese woman whose mother died in the fire bombing and whose father was a Kamikaze. She's tired of the war and (after he saves her from the Leutenant) decides to hide him.
The story and the action are decent but nothing really impressive. All through the story we understand that he's in Japan in WWII, but nothing maskes you ask exactly "where" or "when." Nothing that made me say "Oh $#!+" ... until the last page. The last word.
"Hiroshima."
That's when I said "Oh $#!+"
