---------------------Question?-------------------------------- where did Wolverine's son Erista come from?
----------------------Answer---------------------------------- Wolverine's son Erista was published in the Official Marvel Handbooks, but they do NOT tell you where in the comic books the name was published prior to the Handbook. through lots of research we found that in the comic "Secret Wars" the name was listed and Secret Wars written by bendis was published prior to the Handbook, but more researched revealed that one of the writters of the Handbook Eric J Moreels posted on his website the name Erista in 2002, which is the earliest known posting of the name. Eric claims that the boy is the child from the Wolverine Jungle Adventure, but in that book it does not mention anything about the name or the sex of the child. Eric says that the information could have come from a comic card, letters page or anyother info source, to this day we have not found the name. if you can help with this it would be great.

Erista is supposedly male, as it states in the marvel.com wolverine bio... im really confused about all of this child hooha, im also confused by the timelines with all the storylines going around like house of m and civil war... are they with the existing marvel universe or are they all seperate?

I don't know the definitive answer to your question, however rightly or wrongly I tend to treat storylines like House of M and Civil War as seperate.

1. Erista - as near as I can tell Eric J. Moreels made the name up! I've been reading Wolverine since the 1970's and the name never appeared in any story having to do with Wolverine. Moreels admits he has no idea where the name came from but stubbornly includes it in every Wolverine biography he touches. And since Marvel never checks the accuracy of their handbooks (which are written by fan "experts") the entries aren't "canon." The un-named baby who appears in the arms of Ghack (a character Logan was intimate with) in the last panel of the Jungle Adventure never appears again in any other story! The baby is never named. It's gender in unknown. It's paternity is unknown. In fact, the only reason the child is even identified as Ghack's is because she's holding it.
2. Civil War takes place in the same continuity after Decimation. The effects of Decimation and reference to House of M occur at several points in Civil War. (SHIELD questioning Spider Man about the House of M; O*N*E appearing in X-Men: Civil War).

I hope they correct the error in any future Wolverine handbook entries by deleting any mention of "Erista!"
