Note: Here there be spoilers!
Remember Uncanny X-Men #268 (conveniently reprinted in this issue)? Remember how young Black Widow looked when she and Logan first met in Madripoor in 1941? Well guess what... according to Daniel Way this issue takes place after they met in Wolverine: Origins #9!
Now if you recall the details of that issue's flashback, Logan spent two years training her while he learned spy stuff from Taras Romanov. And that was Logan's first "mission" (for Romulus) after he left Jasmine Falls. And we know from Origins and Endings that Logan spent five years at Jasmine Falls prior to that, but after he left Ogun's tutilage.
And Logan first met Ogun while the latter was a Captain in the Japanese Imperial Army in Shanghai, China in Wolverine #113. Ogun offers to train Logan at his dojo, but Logan doesn't take him up on the offer at that time. I had always assumed that they didn't meet again until after WWII since Ogun was serving in the Army, and Logan enlisted before the War ended and was all over the map during the war.
So let's do the math: 1941 is after the first meeting with Natasha and 2 years of training, so that sets the events of W:O #9 back to at least 1938. If Itsu was killed in the same year that makes Daken 69-70 years old, not the previously assumed 50-ish.
Five years previous to that spent at Jasmine falls means Logan left Ogun's dojo by at least 1933.
Even if we assume Logan only spent a year with Ogun, that pushes his training back to beginning in 1932.
Here's the kicker: Japan invaded Manchuria in September, 1931 - making that the earliest possible date for Logan's first meeting with Ogun. Based on this tentative chronology of events, Logan's past from 1931-1941 is getting pretty crowded.
And wasn't the annual also set in Madripoor in 1931?
Now ignoring the fact that Natasha Romanov looks older in W:O #9 than she did in UXM #268, would it even be possible for Ogun to take a year off from his military service to train Logan (for just one year since that's all the time Way seems to allow) in 1932?
Oh, and here's an interview with Way on the present arc and the Annual:
