Ok this is easy one, are variants good or bad? post your opinions on the subject.
personally i think they are good, i have fun collectiong them and I think its cool in moderation, but for a while Marvel was doing Variants almost every issue and that gets crazy. I also would like them to do more special cover and not just a different pic. Remember holograms, prismatic cover, gold foil, silver foil and the occasional error issues, those made buying a variant seem worth it.

Good. For the most part.
As long as it doesn't get out of hand - the speculator market nearly destroyed comic books in the 90s.
I love having a choice with the cover of comics like ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL but I have/will never buy more than one comic just for a different cover.
Another recent/upcoming example of how it can be good - UNCANNY X-MEN #500. It disgusts me to see the 500th issue of a comic that started with Lee and Kirby, and was worked on by the greats like Adams, Claremont, Cockrum, Byrne, Smith, Romita Jr, Lee and have to buy a cover by Greg Land. I think that's disrespectful to the characters and the creators - it's just a pity that his tracings are going to be inside the book as well. So for me to have the option to buy an Alex Ross variant makes me very very happy.
Whoops - that turned into a bit of a rant - sorry.
