Stan Lee has done a few of these "Definitive" books for Marvel characters that are getting movies, and it looks like Wolverine won't be any different. As with Iron Man, Hulk and Silver Surfer, Stan picks various issues over the characters' history that he feels are the best. I have the Iron Man collection and it's quite a good selection.
For this volume, there are supposedly around 300 pages available.
I don't think I'll be getting this The Definitive Wolverine since I'll probably have all the stories included but I'm going to have a little fun with it and state what I consider the Definitive Wolverine stories. The standard has been to try and include at least one story from every decade so I‘ll try and keep that up. Once again, these are just my choices, not Stan's!
Classic X-Men #10 by Chris Claremont and John Bolton
Uncanny X-Men #120 by Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin
Uncanny X-Men #121 by Claremont, Byrne and Austin
Uncanny X-Men #133 by Claremont, Byrne and Austin
Uncanny X-Men #139 by Claremont, Byrne and Austin
Uncanny X-Men #140 by Claremont, Byrne and Austin
Alpha Flight #17 by Byrne
Wolverine 1 #1 by Claremont, Frank Miller and Josef Rubinstein
Uncanny X-Men #205 by Claremont and Barry Windsor-Smith
Wolverine 2 #10 by Claremont, John Buscema and Bill Sienkiewicz
Uncanny X-Men #268 by Claremont, Jim Lee and Scott Williams
Wolverine 2 #34 by Larry Hama, Marc Silvestri and Dan Green
Wolverine 3 #1 by Greg Rucka and Darick Robertson
Wolverine 3 #41 by Stuart Moore and C.P. Smith
Wolverine: Saudade by Jean-David Morvan, Phillipe Bouchet and Larry Hama.
