Marvel Studios on Thursday announced it has readjusted its release schedule, pushing back three of its self-produced movies and announcing a release date for the next Spider-Man film.
Here's the new schedule:
* Iron Man 2 remains unchanged and will be released on May 7, 2010. According to Variety, Mickey Rourke is set to play Whiplash, and, according to E! Online, Scarlett Johansson is set to play Black Widow.
* Spider-Man 4, produced by Sony Pictures, will be released on May 6, 2011.
* Thor has been moved from July 16, 2010 to June 17, 2011.
* First Avenger: Captain America has been moved from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011.
* The Avengers has been moved from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012
"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum. It maximizes the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012," said David Maisel, chairman, Marvel Studios.
