X-Men Origins: Wolverine topped the box office on Friday with $35.0 million.
Launching in 4,009 theaters, the film easily topped second-place Ghost of Girlfriends Past's $5.8 million.
By comparison, Iron Man opened with $38.7 in the same weekend last year, and Spider-Man opened with $39.4 million in the same weekend in 2002.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine's reign at the top of the box office strong until the arrival of Star Trek next week, but Wolverine projects to a total of at least $190 million. Considering the economy, swine flu fears and leaked movie over a month ago, Its doing really good.
