My apologies, but, I must express outrage and disgust in regards to the Today Show (and most other large news programs)...
I mean, Jayzus Kriiist, man...250,000 people were displaced from their homes by Earthquakes in China..Think 7 more (or that's what they tell us) are dead in Iraq and all they're gonna talk about is how fat Brittany is this week and what's gonna happen to Michael Jackson's money (heh, the man died on my birthday...)
I wanna hear the truth about the Freemasons and what the government is hiding in Area 51...I don't give a flying f*ck about the latest weight loss secrets.
It's so aggravating for those of us who aren't distracted from inquiring the truth by pop-culture bs.

I'm with you man, news media is a joke, the news as become propaganda and in most cases over exaggerated or made up. It's really a sad fact.

My Grandpa was a 32nd degree Mason (York Rite). The truth about the Freemasons is they don't rule the world. They're a very old social club with a colourful history and a bunch of "club secrets" that go waaaaay back to a time when they were persecuted by people who were paraniod about them. Grandpa was a working-class man all his life. He didn't have his hands on hte reigns of power behind the scenes. He wasn't part of some "illuminati." The present day Freemasons seem to serve several purposes: 1) as a place for men to hang out away from their wives, 2) as a host for family gatherings, 3) as a charitable organization, 4) provides a setting and structure for making social contacts, 5) provides a sence of belonging to a community.
I'd be more concerned about the Council on Foriegn Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and the Builderberg Group.
I don't know what they have or had at "Area 51" but if it was some cold war air force tech lab and test facility then they ought to declassify it after all this time.
My biggest problem with the news (other than all the major networks being owned by a few congolmerates) is passing "info-tainment" off as news. If I want funny news I'll watch the Daily Show, Colbert Report or Real Time with Bill Maher. For a week after Michael Jackson died I had to go flipping from network to network looking for some actual news, but htere was no escaping it. Hour after hour. Finally on Sunday afternoon I found the "news oasis" at 1:00 on CNN - Fareed Zakaria GPS. He didn't mention Michael Jackson once. News about the lives (or deaths) of celebrities should be relegated to the "Entertainment News" program and barely given a passing mention the rest of the day. Nothing that any entertainer or athelete could possibly do has any real effect on my life or the state of the world.

"Info-tainment"...That's great! and perfectly accurate. To be honest, the freemason and "illuminati" stuff is interesting to me but it is only that...I think most conspiracy theories hold little relevance. The human mind sees what it looks for. For example; a 'ghost face' in the mirror of an old photograph. What is merely glare on the glass looks like a human face because our minds are subconsciously trained to look for such things...Recognizable things, which human nature makes more cryptic because we are so goddamn bored. About Area 51 though...I think it has to be something that would compromise the power of those in power. Something that would frighten or enrage us to the point of uprising or anarchy. Aliens though? ya never know...but I personally, doubt it.

Idiocy in media is great for a genuine laugh though!
On my way here this morning, I stopped by AOL to check mail and one of the news headline things was titled "Does the moon have a smell?"
I love seeing things like that sometimes though (not just in media but real life)... just scenes that make you think 'wow, this is really our world.'
Like, a friend and I were walking through a Wal-Mart parking lot the other day and literally saw a woman wearing a 50's looking house dress, walking holding the hands of her two children. A little boy with a buzz-cut and a little girl in a similiar dress to her mother. They were both eating one of those giant rainbow-swirl lollypops. I sh*t you not. When we passed them all hell broke loose.
It's so hard to keep from laughing in people's faces sometimes. :/
