Wolverine's Motto

I seem to remember when he would say "I'm the best there is at what i do, but what i do isnt very nice" and this new line on this avengers cover seems to be the same thing , but simplyfied "I do whats gotta be done" I like the original if you cut it down to the "I'm the best there is at what i do". Anyway what do you think of the motto and is this new quote on the avenger's cover going to be repeated in up coming issues

I don't think this will replace the original motto. "I do what's gotta be done" just describes his position in the New Avengers. I guess you could argue whether the team was originally Captain America's idea to re-form the team after "Crazy Wanda" decimated the Mighty Avengers, or whether it goes back to Nick Fury's hand picked covert superhuman invasion of Latveria. Either way Cap agreed that Logan was there "just in case" they couldn't "play nice" with the bad guys all the time.

I don't see why the Marvel universe will need two teams calling themselves avengers after Osborne's "Dark Avengers" are through - let alone four ("New," "Mighty," "Dark," and "Young"). Hopefully after Seige plays out they're will be one big Avengers team with UN sanction like it used to be and all the members of the various teams can either join it, go solo, or join some other team.

[Edit: (10 March) Apparently... there will be at least two Avengers titles after "Seige" - one called "Secret Avengers" - and the other is just called "Avengers." The "adjectiveless" team apparently includes Wolverine.]

In any case "I do what's gotta be done" also describes the guy who cleans my septic tank. It doesn't say anything about what he's "gotta do" or if he's any good at it, or how he feels about it. It doesn't tell you that he's racked-up a higher body count than anyone in the last century. It doesn't tell you he's the apex predator. It doesn't say he doesn't particularly like anything about what he does but he does it anyway. It doesn't come close to "I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice." And It won't replace the classic.

Or the one he says "I go where I wanta go>" I've always liked that one... tells me he does what ever the F he wants and if you don't like it... tough!
