It's official: Wolverine is now his own "franchise" within the Marvel Universe - or will be come this fall. And it's pretty much what I expected: three solo-titles for the members of the "Howlett Clan" (18 claws, no waiting) after Wolverine: Origins wraps-up. Wolverine: Weapon X will relaunch as simply "Wolverine" (under Jason Aaron)... and Wolverine literally goes to Hell. (ahem - called it!) Melita Garner will stay around and Mystique plays a part in the first arc. comics.ign.com/articles/108/1084442p1.htmlWolverine relauches as Daken: Dark Wolverine (still by Way and Liu) in September. comics.ign.com/articles/108/1084458p1.htmlX-23 gets her own series (also by Marjorie Liu) also in September. The first arc of these three series will be somewhat inter-related. comics.ign.com/articles/108/1084459p1.htmlAnd X-Force takes on a new team with Wolverine as co-leader and an all "A-list" roster (as yet unrevealed) to fight Apocalypse. comics.ign.com/articles/108/1084456p1.htmlAll this is in addition to all the Wolverine appearances in the other X-titles - Uncanny X-Men, Astonishing X-Men and the new (adjectiveless) X-Men. X-Men Legacy will still be around but focusses on Rogue and the younger mutants. And Avengers. And the upcoming Spidey-Wolvie Team-up series.

Obviously, the other members of the team are Archangel, Fantomex, Psylocke ( you can see the ends of her sash inbetween her and the guy crouching, and it's her psy-sword pointing out), but I don't know who the guy crouching is. I don't think it's Deadpool. I hope it's not Deadpool, because he ISN'T a mutant. It would be cool if it's Maverick, but that doesn't seem likely.

Good guesses!
Yeah, Archangel seems likely (he didn't quit the team and, well -wings)!
Fantomex would be a good fit (which also means E.V.A. goes along with him) and was recently seen with both Wolverine and Psylocke in X-Men). And he's Weapon XIII.
Psylocke's reaction to the discovery of the existence of X-Force in Second Coming didn't seem like she totally rejected the idea. She's a killler and she has fairly strong connections to Wolverine (especially after the "Get Matsu'o" storyline. Plus she and Warren were romantically involved for some time (Warren and Logan both helped her with the whole "Crimson Dawn" thing). I could see the writers building a "love trialgle" between Warren, Betsy and Fantomex.
That last figure appears to have a sword on his back. That could point to Deadpool (who would be comic relief on the team), and I think I may have heard rumors to the effect that they might pick him up. He may not be a mutant but he'd fit the team's mission and he's part of the second genration of Weapon X. And that would fit with the "Heroic Age" integration of X-Men with the wider Marvel Universe. But wouldn't 'Pool have two swords?
But I've also heard that the new X-Force will have Wolverine share leadership with a "co-captain" and will include X-Men who are morally opposed to killing. Hmmmmm. He fights with a sword. He's posed in a three-point crouch. His hands are obscured to look like mittens. I wonder - is that Psylocke's sash, or Nightcrawler's tail? I think a team with Logan and Kurt as co-captains would be really popular. Kurt's vehement opposition to a wetworks team might make him want nothing to do with it... or it might make him insist on being included as a way of actively keeping some influence over the team's actions.

COOOL! that will be Easyer to follow and more enjoyable too!
Doesn't matter to me who they put Logan with on teams as lonng as they are good fighter and good friends or at least loyal, a back stabber or two plotting in the shadows would add a twist that could be most welcomed in the future.

What I heard about the co-captaining was: This makes me think the co-captain is Archangel. You know, he's recently gotten that transformation thing and has done a lot of killing, but maybe he doesn't like the monster he's turning into/back into. I really think Nightcrawler is going to be one of the main deaths in Second Coming. I wouldn't want the elf to die, but things keep pointing to his demise. The one early Second Coming preview that had Wolverine reacting to the death of a mutant made it seem like it was someone really close to him, and Kurt fits that. I think the over-obscuring of the hands is a red herring, and Psylockes sash adds to that because it looks like it could also be a tail.

The only thing that makes me think that Archangel isn't the co-captain is that X-Force's first enemy will be Apocalypse and some of the members of X-Force have already been "compromised." Logan and Warren have both been "Death" so I'm thinking someone with no ties to Apocalypse is the co-leader.

Well, sadly, we now know that is definitely Psylocke's sash and not Nightcrawlers tail. Rest in peace, Kurt Wagner.

Really HATED that they killed Kurt! So when Dracular get's Jubilee... who the HELL is going to save her? no one can defeat Dracular with out Christ. The son of God defeats the son of Satan, that's how it goes if he is written the way he traditionally is. A non believer is just going to be another victim. Kurt was a believer and one of the few. I thought that was way cool with in it self.
Does anyone know if Marvel ever wrote others like Kurt?

Me too!
Dracula may not even be involved. I heard Marvel was doing "Death of Dracula" before the (We are the) X-Men relaunch.
Does anyone know if Marvel ever wrote others like Kurt?
If by "like Kurt" you mean physically, he had a father (Azazal) who's red & has a tail, and at least two half brothers (Kiwi Black and Abyss) who don't look very similar and have somewhat different powers. This was all revealed in Chuck Austen's run on Uncanny X-Men. He also has a "daughter" from another reality by Wanda Maximoff (Talia Josephine "TJ" Wagner) who looks a lot like him. If you mean another person who copuld replace him - sorry, he was one of a kind.

Kurt left a will. We'll get to hear more in August as "Wolverine: Weapon X" transitions into just plain "Wolverine."

Is the plan to have Dark Wolverine stay that way and Daken (who doesn't deserve it) have his own book for good? This new Wolverine #1 will be his main book? With so many titles I get confused easily.

With the wrap-up and re-start of titles in September "Wolverine: Weapon X" will essentially turn into just plain "Wolverine" and will remain Logan's flagship title. And in the first arc (still with Jason Aaron) Logan literally goes to hell.
Logan's son, Daken, who has hi-jacked Wolverine's solo title for the Dark Reign crossover event will get his own title called "Daken: Dark Wolverine" which will still be written by Way and Liu.
"Wolverine: Origins" will end with issue #50 I believe.
"Amazing Spider-Man and Wolverine" is a six-issue mini-series.
Wolverine continues to appear in several X-titles (regularly in "Astonishing X-Men" and "X-Force," and probably pretty consistently in "Uncanny X-Men" and the new (adjectiveless) "X-Men," though he might appear in "X-Men Legacy" as needed).
Logan also appears in "New Avengers" (and possibly one other Avengers team).
And finally the long-awaited "Wolverine/Domino: Sex & Violence" mini-series by Kyle & Yost will see print over the next few months.
