X-23 has been around for a couple of years.
I was woundering if she is going to get her own series, anytime soon. Because if X-23 got a regular series, like Wolverine I would definately read it.
What do you think of this?

At first she just felt like a Wolverine rip-off. But after two limited series that explain her backstory she comes off as a really sympathetic character.
Laura Kinney - X-23 - is a clone, made mostly from a damaged sample Logan's DNA (stolen during the Weapon X Project), but with the damaged code replaced by DNA from her "mother" Dr. Kinney, who was brought in to supervise the cloning after 22 unsuccessful attempts. She was created for one purpose: to be a weapon, a perfect assassin. Raised in a lab, her childhood was the most pervasive story systematic abuse and emotional neglect Marvel could dream up. She was treated as an object, not a person, not a child, by everyone but Dr. Kinney. At around age 10 her claws were extracted and bonded with adamantium then re-attached - all while she was awake, and without anesthetic. By age 12 she was being rented-out to the highest bidder as an assassin. She was conditioned to go into a berserker rage and kill anyone marked with a synthetic "trigger scent" and this is how the project director got the to kill her "mother." She escaped the lab and ran to her "aunt" and "cousin" (Dr. Kinney's sister and niece) in San Fransisco, but they followed her and nearly killed her only living "family" in an attempt to get her back. She ended up working as a prostitute for a while before meeting up with some runaway mutants in the NYX limited series. With no one and nothing left she set out to find her only remaining "family" - Logan - a man she had been trained all her life to kill and replace. When she found him she wanted to kill him and then herself, to end the nightmare. Logan offered to let her kill him if she'd promise not to commit suicide afterward. He told her she wasn't to blame for what they made her do. When she realized that someone in this world actually cared about her more than himself, despite what she was and what she'd done - she just cried. Then SHIELD came for her. She escaped and returned to San Fransisco, but couldn't find her aunt and cousin. Two days after M-Day, Logan called her and insisted she come to live at the mansion, saying the X-Men needed her and she needed them. When she arrived, Logan introduced her to the other remaining students as his "sister." (Genetically she's closer than a fraternal twin, but they were born over nine decades part). Emma Frost wanted her sent away (and even pyschically tortured her with dream-images of her dead mother to force her to leave) but Cyclops insisted she stay. She's been a part of the New X-Men team ever since, and appears to be set to appear in Astonishing X-Men after Whedon's run ends.

After reading megas summary I feel X-23 deserves a second look, i admit I thought she was just another wolverine ripoff a another marvel whoreing wolvies goods, but with breast.
Maybe I'll sneek a peek at her curent issue when I go to the LCS, is it true, I hear X-23 had kicked Wolvies butt every time the meet, which puts her on my bad side.

She fought smart. Every time she cut Logan she kicked up gravel into the wound so it wouldn't close, thus attempting to bleed him out.
I have also had the same thoughts that she was just a rip off, but good writing has developed her into her own person and a worth while character.
I would certainly like to see her in her own series, but with her past flushed out what big mystery could gravitate fans to the series and keep them for more than an issue or 2?

I have mixed feelings about her, I don't dig the whole better fighter than wolverine thing, it's stupid, she has not lived long enough to even come close to him, Maybe smarter as a fighter, that I could buy, I can;t dig the whole stronger thing either, it is stupid too, she's younger and a woman, AND does NOT have metal in her whole body, I could go for the healing factor being better tho, so she could be smarter, faster and heal better, but no way stronger or more skilled, that is just stupid... sorry. She is cool, from what i see she beats Logan it is for the same reason Darken does, because Logan rather let that happen then kill them He isn;t into killing them he'd rather die himself. Logan isn't a killer at heart, tho he will if he has to or see fit to do so to save others. Makes NO sense at all with his past foes that she is "better" in every way, none. she isn't, tho she may be in SOME ways. either way she STILL a knock off of Wolverine... tho i DO like her

I dunno where the idea of Laura being "better" than Logan comes from - he's "the best there is at what he does!" If that weren't true Romulus would have taken an interest in her by now, and he hasn't. And Daken openly scoffed at the idea that she could be his equal (in Dark Avengers/X-Men). And finally if Cyclops had believed she was "better" than Wolverine she'd be leading X-Force, not him. His judgment and a century of experience gives him an advantage over Laura (and pretty much everyone else). At the end of the day, she's still a kid.
I don't recall any issue of X-Force that says her healing factor is superior to Logan's. Can anyone confirm that with an issue number? As I see it her detachment makes it easier for her to kill some targets (without the guilt). But look at how killing her "mom" affected her. She might be faster and more agile, and she has those foot claws (four weapons versus his two). And she's a smaller target. But he's obviously stronger and has an indestructible skeleton. (Her bones can't support as much weight as his - they'd break). And Kimura wouldn't have been able to cut off his arm with a chainsaw.
The only reason she "won" the fight at their first meeting was because he wasn't trying to fight her. Otherwise he would have sliced off her arms and legs and that'd be the end of the fight. The gravel-throwing tactic probably wouldn't work - he'd heal aroind it the same way he'd heal with bullets in him. She'd have to behead him and take his head away from his body (the prescribed method from the "Xavier Protocols" for killing Wolverine) or drown him.
In any case they aren't enemies. They're a disfunctional family. He referred to her as his "sister" but he's also the closest thing she has to a father. He's been obsessed since M-Day with saving the son who doesn't want anything to do with him while prqactically ignoring the "daughter" right under his nose who needs him. Right now. And as the most recent issue of X-Force demonstrates, Logan is finally starting to recognize that. Her "aunt" and "cousin" will never be able to get as close to her as he can because they can't relate to her like he can. "The Facility" is her "Weapon X Project." Kimura is her "Romulus." X-23 doesn't know how to fight back against that alone, and I think that's the point: this is Logan's chance to save her from the alienation that made Sabertooth such a sociopathic bastard. This is his chance to prove to her (and maybe to himself to an extent) that she's not alone any more.

For anybody who missed it, the X-23 one shot by Marjorie Liu was released last week (and if you're lucky you can still get a copy). This story is as introspective as anything we've seen with her and it provides a hint of progress in the Logan/Laura relationship, a reunion with the NYX kids, X-23's first real interaction with Jubilee, and a really creepy new personal antagonist.
With Kyle and Yost leaving X-Force after Necrosha, and Dark Wolverine presumably wrapping-up after Osborne falls, I fins myself hoping that Liu somehow gets ahold of X-23, possibly to continue her solo series.
