You may remember I posted that Wizard said Daniel Way and Steve Dillon would leave Wolverine: Origins to do a new Deadpool ongoing. This has now proven to be half-true.
While Way and Dillon will be doing a Deadpool series, Way will be staying with Wolverine: Orgins with a new artist artist set to be announced that will start with #26.
Any thoughts - will you be picking up their Deadpool series, who do you want to see replace Dillon on Origins?

It's not really surprising that Wizard only got it half right, but now that you've given us the whole story I'll call it good news. I never really liked Dillon on Origins (he makes Logan look like Ted Cassidy). I think a lot of fans complained, but Way wanted to work with Dillon. This is a compromise.
I won't mind if he does that to Deadpool because at the end of the day Deadpool is a parody of comic books that still manages to take itself seriously. It makes sense that Dilon's last arc with Way on Origins would feature Deadpool as a lead-in to their first arc on that title. I've read Deadpool for years (it's the funniest comic Marvel's done since Howard the Duck) and I'm willing to give Way and Dillon's Deadpool a try.
As for the replacement for Dillon on Origins there are three artists I'd like to see. In order of diminishing liklihood: 1) Simone Bianchi - He's the hot young talent Wolverine fans are most familiar with as the man who drew Wolverine killing Sabretooth - probably the hottest Marvel artist since Larocca. I think that choice would satisfy lots of fans, especially the new ones. 2) Mark Texiera - Take the "old school" route. Way draws heavily on unravelling mysteries first exposed by Hama and Texiera, which has a strong appeal for the long-time fans and would make flashbacks especially consistent. 3) Barry Windsor-Smith - The stamp of credibility. This guy wrote and drew Weapon X, our first look at the conspiracy that messed with Logan. Seeing Origins suddenly drawn in his distinctive style would be an immediate visual reminder to anyone familiar with the original work - Oh $#!+ we're back in the nightmare! I wonder what his work would look like with digital colouring? 4) Joe Queseda - least likely since he's gotta' be too busy, but c'mon you know he wants to. He wouldn't have taken the time to do those covers unless he really wanted to draw Wolverine. And having seen his covers it would look really good.

If Tex or Windsor-Smith were doing the book I'd buy it just to look at. Bianchi is going to be doing Astonishing X-Men and like you said, Quesada is likely to be too busy. An artist who really wants a Wolverine book is Mike Deodato Jr. He has already done covers for the series and I wonder if he'll be the guy to take over art duties. When I asked Mike about Wolvie, he had this to say: I LOVE the character. I'm working on a Wolverine Annual right now ( doing it in my spare time, while waiting for the next Thunderbolts script ). Who knows: if they like the result, maybe I can get the title next year. Obviously he was half-joking there. I don't know if I could pick up a series I dislike just for Deodato's art but it would be very tempting. I'd prefer him to get the orignal Wolverine book - his dark atmospheric shadows would be a perfect fit for that.

Maybe that's exactly what it'll take to bring a lot of disappointed fans back to Wolverine: Origins. I have no idea what the sales figures are like right now. I thought Way's recent Capt. America WWII retrospective was the best arc he's done on the series, either despite or maybe because it seemsed like it was editorially driven to some extent. By this I mean that when Way originally outlined his five year plan I doubt he knew of Marvel's plans to kill off Cap'. Even if the flashback story was planned to fit into this part of the story (and it did seem to fit somewhat with recent emphasis on Logan's time working for Seraph in the early 1940's) I doubt Way would have known Cap' would be dead by the time he got around to it writing this arc. In any case this arc actually seems to fit into the timeline of Logan's life (as it was before Way started re-organizing it) without creating any conflicts of contradictions. As for Mike Deodato Jr. - if he can do this - 66.29.58.190/creators/pencilers/mikedeodato/index.htmwww.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/categories.php?cat_id=125- I definitely think he deserves a shot at doing it every month! And I see what you mean about the "dark atmospheric shadows. He'd fit well in Wolverine, Origins, or the new Wolverine-centric X-Force, particularly if he inks his own pencils.

Praise the Lord, my prayers have been answered! I could not stand Dillion’s art... everyone looked the same (...like Ted Cassidy - Thanx for helping me pin point the face Megalictis). I stopped buying the series because of Dillion.
Let's hope the new artist can breathe life into the series and help Way pick up the pace per issue too.

Ok, new artist...it's about time...the arms and hair are good (though I've seen A LOT better on Logan) I really just couldn't get past that face... I really don't know who could replace Dillon (Because I never remember who did what work) but there's gotta be someone!

I agree with Congo, I think that if you got a good colorer with the same prints they could reallly change the art in a whole different direction then they have looked, but I also feel that a new artist could save Way's butt, Ive seen his other work and i believe the art is the thing that is hurting this book more so then any other thing.
Also on the subject of events fitting into ways story, i beleive that some stuff is on the fly, but talking to marvel writters and editors they tell me that stories are brainstormed, planned a year or more in advance and stories are written months in advance.
